Century Accounting, who is an account of Enoch Office Equipment, came to us wondering if we would contribute to their Stokes Math Competition. We said yes, of course!
Each year, the middle school students at Our Lady of Grace School in Parkton and St. Joseph’s School in Cockeysville come together to take part in a math competition. And the #1 rule: No Calculators Allowed!
The Stokes Math Competition awards 1st through 3rd place winners at each grade level for each of the two schools.
Century Accounting owners Donna and Alan Stokes started the Stokes Math Competition after experiencing difficulty locating qualified bookkeepers/accountants. They were finding that many applicants did not possess the basic math skills required for the job.
“[The Stokes Math Competition] is one way in which we are making a difference to have the next generation of bookkeepers and accountants possess solid basic math skills as they are a necessary skill set for pretty much all careers and life in general,” wrote Donna and Allan Stokes in their blog.
And Enoch Office Equipment was happy to contribute to such a great cause!
