Information Health Check

In quite the same way that the blood in our body feeds necessary oxygen to all of our vital organs, data and information is the vitality to business.

By: Jimmy Binarao

In quite the same way that the blood in our body feeds necessary oxygen to all of our vital organs, data and information is the vitality to business. This would certainly be quite obvious, but please indulge me for a moment in what should then be a rather simple question – why? What is interesting to me is that in so many ways, not every response is the same, and it usually depends on the company’s core mission. One thing for sure is a company cannot make good decisions without good information. As the expression goes, garbage in, garbage out. (more…)

Enoch Office launches a New Website designed by Adventure Web Interactive

Thursday, February 27th, 2014

New WebsiteNotice anything different about us? Not only do we have a new name- we dropped the “Equipment” from our title – and a new logo, but we also have a brand new website designed by Adventure Web Interactive. What do you think?

There is a reason we have been around since 1961. We embrace change. Enoch Office has evolved right alongside our industry, from the typewriter of the 1960′s and 70′s to the fax of the 1980′s to the digital color output devices and document management systems of today. And when our old website became outdated, we did not hesitate to call Adventure Web and revamp EnochOffice.com. And what’s the other reason we have thrived while other companies have faltered? Customer Service!

No matter what the product or service, Enoch Office will continue to offer the highest level of customer service, support, and expertise. It is our hope that our new website will help make it easier for current and potential customers to find the equipment, document management solutions, or service information they need. So head to EnochOffice.com, take a look around, and let us know what you think about the new design and new functionality.

While our name, logo, and website may have changed, our commitment to you remains the same!

About Adventure Web Interactive:

Friday, January 18th, 2013

On January 11, 2013, Enoch Office Equipment held its 10th annual Year End Awards Dinner. As you may remember from last year’s blog, each and every year, Enoch Office Equipment employees vote for one representative in service, sales, & customer service who represented Enoch admirably and performed at the highest level while providing our customers with the best support possible.

This year’s recipient was Manny Nunez, who has been with Enoch for more than 5 years. This is Manny’s second time winning the award, with the first coming in 2008. He loves helping clients solve their printer issues and excels at customer service.

Joseph F. Enoch, Sr. Award – Outstanding Customer Service

This Year’s recipient was Carla Barbera, who has been with Enoch for seven years, and Sherrie Jones, who has been here five. That’s right, we had co-winners in 2012. The Power of Networking: BNI Networking Group sees $1.5 Mil in Referrals

Friday, January 4th, 2013

If we have told you once, we have told you a thousand times: Joe Enoch, Rick Donovan, and the rest of the employees at Enoch Office Equipment believe in networking. As Rick once said, “at Enoch, it’s networking morning, noon, and night.” But what’s the big deal? What makes networking so great?

Networking, when done right, can be a powerful business tool. And if you don’t believe us, just take a look at the numbers reported by Rick’s Friday Pikesville Breakfast BNI Platinum Networking Group, which meets every Friday at the Springhouse in Pikesville from 7:30-9:00 am. In July, we reported that this networking group, of which Rick is the president, had already generated $1,001,393 in referrals. Well 2012 is over and the final figures are in.

In 2012, the Friday Pikesville Breakfast BNI Platinum Networking Group generated more than $1,500,000 in referrals between its 27 members.

“That’s a lot for just a little networking group,” said Rick. “We have an unwritten rule: referrals must be warm because just throwing out a name doesn’t help anybody.”

After all, that is what networking is all about, helping one another generate business. And no one benefits from a cold lead…NOBODY!

Interested in joining the Friday Pikesville Breakfast BNI Platinum Networking Group?

“We are always looking for members,” said Rick. “Commercial Realtor, Property Manager, Moving Company, Payroll Service, Electrical contractor and Commercial Janitorial Service are a few of the categories we are looking to fill.”

If you have any questions about Networking, please contact Enoch by calling (410) 561-7600 or click here today!

Enoch again partnered with WNST & Helping Up Mission this Holiday Season

Friday, December 21st, 2012

Enoch Office Equipment employee Rick Donovan once again partnered with WNST radio personalities Drew Forrester, Glenn Clark and WNST CEO Nestor Aparicio to collect and deliver coats and clothing to Baltimore’s Helping Up Mission, a faith based initiative dedicated to helping not only the homeless of Baltimore, but also those fighting addiction, or individuals struggling to get back on their feet after being released from prison.

Throughout this year Enoch Office was a designated ‘drop off” location for the coat and clothing drive.

This partnership began in 2010, when Forrester, the host of WNST’s “Morning Reaction,” asked his listeners to bring him coats, coats he planned to handout to the homeless men and women of Baltimore city.

“I hoped to get 25 coats,” said Forrester, not expecting to generate a lot of interest.

Forrester got more than he had expected – 232 coats to be exact! Forrester then took those coats downtown, in a van donated by Joe Enoch, to an amazing facility called Helping Up Mission and distributed those coats to the needy men and women of Baltimore City.

Three years later, Forrester and Enoch are still getting together each and every holiday season to collect and distribute coats to the less fortunate.

During a holiday season that is marred nowadays by greed and commercialism, it is nice to know that philanthropic events like this still take place. Everyone here at Enoch would like to thank you for your generous donations!

“Seeing the gratitude of those receiving these [clothing] items – Is just tremendous,” said Forrester.

To learn more about the Helping Up Mission and how your donations have helped them in their efforts, please visit their website at www.helpingupmission.org. And if you have any questions or want to know how to get involved with the Helping Up Mission, please contact Enoch by calling (410) 561-7600 or click here today!

Business Tips: How to Cut Business Postage Costs

Friday, December 14th, 2012

As a small business owner, the difference between success and failure can be as simple as eliminating wasteful spending. And the expense of postage is a great place to start, especially with the price of postage set to rise next month.

Postage Prices on the Rise

  1. First-Class Mail single-piece letters will increase by $0.01 to $0.46
  2. Postcards will increase by $0.01 to $0.33
  3. Prices for all products (Mailing and Shipping services) will increase by 4%
  4. Mailing Services, such as regular letters and advertising matter, will increase 2.6%.

These new prices become effective on Jan. 27, 2013. And while they may not seem like much, they can quickly add up, especially if your company sends a lot of mail. Luckily, FP Mailing Solutions can help!

FP Mailing Solutions eliminates the need for costly rate changes and maintenance plans with all inclusive programs from $14.95/month. To learn more, contact Enoch! As a Gold Dealer for FP Mailing Solutions, we are proud to be the fastest growing mail machine provider in Maryland!

If you have any questions about FP Mailing Solutions, please contact Enoch by calling (410) 561-7600 or click here today!

Section 179 Tax Deduction: There isn’t much Time left!

Friday, December 7th, 2012

As part of the IRS tax code, Section 179 gives small business owners a one-year tax break when they invest in and install office equipment or qualified business software. However, the Section 179 tax deduction only applies to equipment purchased before December 31, 2012. So time is running out!

Small businesses, like yours, can take advantage of Section 179 to write-off the entire purchase price of qualifying equipment (new or used) and software for one year, instead of adhering to typical five- to seven- year depreciation schedules. Under Section 179, you can expense up to $139,000 as a deduction as long as total purchases do not exceed $560,000.

Section 179 deduction is expected to be reduced to just $25,000 in 2013.

Bonus Depreciation: This bonus deduction, which can be combined with the Section 179 deduction, allows for an additional write-off of 50% of the undepreciated balance for capital expenditures and depreciable property (i.e., manufacturing equipment, computers, software, etc.).  This bonus depreciation is scheduled to expire after December 31, 2012.

Act Now Before the Tax Deduction of Section 179 is Reduced!

If you have any questions about Section 179, please contact Enoch by calling (410) 561-7600 or click here today!

Recapping MIAA Championship Weekend!

For the first time ever, in 2011, all three Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) conferences held title games and Enoch was there, sponsoring the event! In 2012, once again…The Title was Earned on the Field. And Enoch was there again, sponsoring the event.

MIAA C Conference Championship

No. 20 St. Frances Academy 30, Severn School 25

“Severn played a great game, it was a tremendous football game and all of my guys played extremely well, I couldn’t have asked for anything more,” said St. Frances coach Messay Hailemariam.

MIAA B Conference Championship

No. 9 St. Paul’s School 28, No. 16 John Carroll School 27 (OT)

“We were the better team today,” John Carroll coach Rich Stichel, Jr. “We just didn’t come out with the victory.”

MIAA A Conference Championship

No. 1 Gilman School 35, No. 2 Calvert Hall College 7

“It’s the most complete team, our defense is unbelievable and the offense is punishing, it’s my kind of team,” said Gilman coach Biff Poggi. “I’m really happy for the kids. This [championship] was probably the most special.” It was also Gilman’s 11th championship in the MIAA era.

Enoch printed out placards (pictured above) to help each team’s fans root for their team. And, at the end of the day, everyone had a great time!

MIAA Championship Games this Saturday, Sponsored by Enoch!

Friday, November 16th, 2012

It is that time of year once again. It’s MIAA Championship weekend! And Enoch will once again be there sponsoring the event.

MIAA “C” Conference Championship

Severn vs. St Frances

12:00 Noon

St. Frances has averaged a state-best 53.75 points per game this season. However, don’t expect the Panthers to just run away with the title. The Severn Admirals are the last team to have beaten the defending “C” Conference Champions last season. Yet, St. Frances got their revenge in the 2011 title game, defeating Severn 44-17.

The Admirals will look to avenge last year’s championship loss.

MIAA “B” Conference Championship

St Paul’s vs. John Carroll

3:30 pm

This year, the St. Paul Crusaders have rolled through the competition. In fact, no team has come within 22 points of St. Paul this season. To make matters worse for the John Carroll Patriots, the Crusaders have won 8 of the last 9 meetings between the two teams.

But anything can happen Saturday!

MIAA “A” Conference Championship

The Title will be Earned on the Field

The MIAA “A” Conference championship is in just its second year of existing. And for the second straight year, we will see Calvert Hall face off against Gilman in the champhionship. Last year, in the 2011 championship game, Gilman defeated Calvert Hall 34-32 in double overtime.

Gilman vs. Calvert Hall

7:30 pm

The defending “A” Conference champion Greyhounds are looking for their 11th MIAA title, while the 2010 champion Cardinals go after their second.

The gates open at 11:00 am on Saturday! And tickets are just $10. Are you ready for some football!?
